Video Project #1 – Individual Video 2

Hello everyone!

Here’s a long overdue post from the Mayfest (μΆ•μ œ) that I went to at Korea University! I bought tickets to the Mayfest there because there was a rumour that Big Bang was going to be in their line up. It was just a rumour though…

However, I still thoroughly enjoyed myself though. It was really nice to see a girl group up close! Seeing the cute performances they put up (& catching a glimpse of their tired-ness haha) and how it is to execute their dance routines. πŸ™‚

I also managed to catch 10cm and they are SO GOOD live!!! The lead singer is so so skilled.

Video Project #2 – Post 3

Hey there!

This is our group’s final video! Thanks to Juhyung (ssi) who edited the video and pieced it all together. He came up with an excellent structure to the entire video and picked apt music! πŸ™‚

Hope you like it!

Video Project #2 – Post 2

As mentioned in the previous post, our group also went to a place called Dingdong Waffle.

I really love the waffles there and it is pretty cheap. My favourite is whatever we ate on that day – Nutella Cream Waffle with Yoghurt Ice Cream! It’s only 3000won πŸ™‚

Here’s the video we shot at Dingdong Waffle.

After shooting the above clip, we were wondering how to close off the video… So I suggested filming a bogus prelude to the next episode. Hehe.

We were planning to depict how we are going to review the uncle (ahjussi) at the roadside stall behind us and CU (the convenience store behind us) with a wordplay on “see(ing) you (the viewers)” next week. πŸ™‚

(λ‹€μŒμ£Ό = next week; it commonly appears on korean variety shows)

Have a great week ahead πŸ™‚

Video Project #2 – Post 1

Hello there!

Finals is getting ridiculously close but I hope everyone is staying strong and healthy!

Well, for Video Project 2, my group – Crank In – decided to do a restaurant review.

At first I was pretty hesitant about the entire idea since I was extremely afraid that the video would be surrounded by fake acting on how delicious the food is actually not as well as having to articulate well the taste of the food.

However, while at the restaurant, I really felt that it was such a brilliant idea. We got to eat good food and have fun with one another without having to shoot under the hot sun while following a strict storyboard. I had so much fun!

Though our group did our group did not make a storyboard, we made an outline of how our entire video should look like as well as what we should shoot when we went on our restaurant review trip.

Video flow:

  1. Collect interviews from our foreign friends on good restaurants / eating places
  2. Go to 3 of those restaurants (main, dessert, drinking place) – & ensure that we capture the directions to the restaurant, menu (including the price) and food
  3. Conduct an interview and review the restaurant (general comments + restaurant score – out of 5 spoons)

In the end, based on our friend’s recommendations, we visited three places – Yi Ga Galbi(μ΄κ°€κ°ˆλΉ„), Ah Ssi Pub(μ•„μ”¨νŽ) & Ding Dong Waffle(띡λ˜₯μ™€ν”Œ).

Attached below is our first impressions of Ah Ssi Pub!

Thanks for reading this!

Have an amazing week ahead.

Videos that Don’t Suck

Hello everyone! (if there even is a everyone haha – which is a good thing)

I have finally plucked up my courage (so dramatic) or exercised my brain and thought of how to shoot for “Videos that Don’t Suck” without embarassing myself while I’m outside. Haha but I think that is inevitable so I have proceeded to complete this assignment…

Tip #2 – Shoot Short Shots
In the article, the author noted that you should not shoot just one long wide shot. Also, each shot should not exceed more than 10s. The video can be varied with the usage of CUs as well. For this video, I shot my lunch (Yoogane Chicken Galbi Fried Rice) by taking the different stages of the cooking process of the fried rice. Can you imagine if I shot it in one shot with the same red looking thing sizzling for 5s before seeing the waiter coming to stir it… #howdreary

Tip #5 – Stop and shoot, no moving the camera around.

The author mentions that moving the camera is for pros. Instead, one should move the camera, stop, then shoot. Here is my desperate attempt to not let my hands shake while capturing the beauty of the cafe that I am at as I type in Samcheong-dong.

Tip #6 – Keep the brightest light behind you.

I attempted to capture the woes of having your face unlit and the joys of hitting the light! Note to self: Sunlight can erode your nose bridge.

Something noteworthy I found from the article is when the author mentions that if you’re outside in the day and your subjects are squinting, you could try moving so that the sun is still behind you but not right behind you. So that the light will hit your subjects at an angle instead of straight on. However, I shot the above video indoors in a air-conditioned cafe by a window so I could afford the light hitting me straight on.

All this camera stuff is scary but I shall press on for my broadcast dreams! πŸ™‚

Have a great week ahead everyone.

These are a few of my favourite thingss

Or a few of my favourite food.

1. Seafood Cheese Topoki (ν•΄λ¬ΌμΉ˜μ¦ˆλ–‘λ³Άμ΄) @ Anam.
It’s 6500won (+ one ramen) so it’s really worth it! There’s prawns, crab, fishcake (my favourite), 2 kinds of teok (ricecake), ramen and CHEESE.

2. Baby Octopus with Cheese Fondue (μˆκΎΈλ―Ένλ“€) @ Ojju (였쭈).

THESE ARE SO SPICYYY. But seriously good. The set comes withΒ the baby octopus, 3 kinds of cheese in the fondue, salad, egg soup, beansprouts (μ½©λ‚˜λ¬΄), cabbage, steamed rice, and cream makgeolli… (Sorry for not detailing all of these in the video) The set is available in only some of the outlets though. Another delicious item is the honey butter fried food basket.

3. Ham StewΒ at Busan!

I’m sorry but I can’t seem to remember what is the name of this in Korean but I think it is pretty common in other parts of Korea as well.

I think I just have a thing for things boiling/cooking in a pot and rice. It just seems heavenly.

Finals are coming.

All the best everyone! Fighting! λ³΄κΈ°ν•˜μ§€λ§ˆ!
